About IIS
The Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) is a high performance olympic program dedicated to shaping future Olympians and Olympic medalists. Over the years, IIS has evolved into much more than just an elite high-performance training center. Through its comprehensive Olympic program, IIS works closely with satellite centers across the country to identify and nurture raw talent. IIS is truly driving the Olympic movement in India.
Located in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, IIS boasts state-of-the-art facilities, cutting-edge sports science, and some of the finest coaching minds from around the world, all working together to help Indian athletes achieve their Olympic dreams. Spread across 42 acres, IIS is a unique initiative led by the JSW Group, supported by over 25 corporate donors through CSR funding. Its mission is to become the premier training destination for Indian athletes striving for success at the highest levels of sport.

Sakshi Malik's
Historic Bronze
At the Rio 2016 Olympics, Sakshi Malik became the first Indian female wrestler to win an Olympic medal. Competing in the 58 kg category, she secured a Bronze medal after a dramatic comeback in the final seconds of her bout against Kyrgyzstan's Aisuluu Tynybekova, turning a 0–5 deficit into an 8–5 victory.

The Inspire Institute of Sport was formally inaugurated and dedicated to the nation on India's 72nd Independence Day. The ceremony at the Vijayanagar campus was attended by Indian sporting legends, including Olympic gold medalists Abhinav Bindra and Balbir Singh Sr., and tennis icon Mahesh Bhupathi.
Neeraj & Bajrang’s triumphs
At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Neeraj Chopra won Gold in javelin with an 87.58m throw, securing India’s first Olympic athletics medal. Bajrang Punia added Bronze in wrestling, defeating Kazakhstan’s Daulet Niyazbekov 8–0 despite a knee injury. Their achievements marked a historic moment for Indian sports.

Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar
JSW Sports, the founding organization behind IIS, was conferred with this national honour in 2018 under the category of “Encouragement to Sports through Corporate Social Responsibility”.
International Judo Federation (IJF)
In December 2024, the IIS was officially recognized by the IJF as a High-Performance Judo Centre, acknowledging its success in developing elite-level judokas.
FICCI India Sports Awards
IIS was named the “Best Private High Performance Center” at the 2024 FICCI India Sports Awards in New Delhi.
